There are some features of school life that form part of the unique character of Clevedon School.
Here we present some of these special features.
AGRICULTURE DAY
Ag Day is the biggest single event of the School Year, and of course reflects our rural background. Calves, Lambs, goats and pets are reared and trained and enter a range of judging events. Classrooms are full of displays of student work, and various student groups present items. The day is a huge fundraiser for the PTA.

TREES FOR SURVIVAL
For the past 10 years we have participated in this annual Conservation project. Students raise upto 1000 native tree seedlings, prick them out and pot them on, developing them from 5 cm seedlings to young saplings often over 40 cms tall. They are then transplanted to local erosion prone planting sites. This year the TFS team have joined the world wide Billion Trees project - Plant for the Planet. NZ has pledged a million trees to this campaign, and we aim to add 1200 more trees as our contribution to this target.

MUSICAL PRODUCTIONS
We have been staging musical productions for many years now. Ex pupils (and parents) will remember 'The Cats of Clevedon', 'Man of Steel', 'Rats',and 'Wonder in Aliceland', all staged in the
Clevedon Community Hall. Two years ago we performed 'A brand new Paige', and earlier this year the Juniors performed 'Panapa' again, this time in our own School Hall.
Later this year, the senior school will perform a musical version of Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Staff offer children dance, choir, sport and kapa haka activities at lunch time.

By using the expertise of the staff we are able to cater for the needs of children who have an aptitude in a particular area. These children are withdrawn from the class to participate in the group activity. Science, writing, technology, ICT, instrumental and vocal groups, mathematics, and art are some of the areas.

PURE WEEK

This is a recent development and is another time where we give the children the opportunity to do an in-depth study on a range of areas. These include visual arts, communication, music, dance/drama, bush craft, gymnastics, orienteering and technology.

SPECIALIST TEACHING
We provide many opportunities for selected groups of students to develop their talents.
Kapa Haka, Science, Technology, Dance,
Environmental Studies, Drama, Problem Solving, Mathex and Debating
are all available for interested and keen students to further their talents and attempt new challenges.

MUSIC SPECIALISATION
Specialist music tuition is available during school time for individual and group tuition. The junior children are able to participate in music appreciation sessions.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS
We are involved with community iniatiatives whenever possible.

This year Y7/8 students have assisted Manakau City Council with annual sealife monitoring at Kawakawa Bay, and our Y5/6 students assisted again with tree planting at Camp Sladdin for Arbor Day.
