WELCOME TO ROOM 11
Term 1

Room 11 is little in age, little in numbers but big in heart. Everything we do is with enthusiasm as we start our schooling life. Words, letters, numbers, art, swimming, fun activities, making friends and routines of school is what occupies us at school.

Below are some photos of some of the things we do in Room 11.

Term 2
Many Hands Make Light Work

We are a great class. We take our roles and responsibilities seriously. We help each other, proving that many hands make light work. Our class is continually changing and we all help to make new members welcome.

 Welcome to Term 3
All Countries Smile in the same language

Mrs Judith Frear is now our full time teacher. She has altered classroom environment. It looks bright and happy and we love it.
We work closely with Rooms 10 in Mathematics and Room 12 in Literacy. Being part of Totara Team is lots of fun.
This term we have adopted Samoa as our country of study and we are learning a bit about their culture, in particular celebrations. The overall theme is celebrating cultures -a smile is the same in any language.
We are good self managers and are eager to continue a long our learning pathway. We are full of smiles and make everyone feel welcome.
If you have time feel free to drop into Room 11 and look at all our wonderful learning.

We sing our ABC song every day.

We do actions to help us remember the sounds of letters.
Learning to read words is very important.

We help each other with our reading.
We can read stories to each other.

 We do buddy reading.

Here are our shape pictures we made in Mathematics.
We can all write wonderful stories. We like reading everybody's stories.
 We are learning about Samoa.

It was fun reading with Room 13.

We listened to each other read.

Room 13 helped us with our reading.

We practise making our name and words with magnetic letters.

We go and do P.E. with Siaosi once a fortnight. It is fun.

 "How does this work?"
P.E is not only good for the physical activity but for the problem solving too.

We read when we have finished our work. We can share our favourite books.
We always try our best. We can all be teachers and we can all be learners.
We get better at reading every day.

At the end of the day we reflect on our learning.

 Flash Back!
During Term 2 we did a Social Project. We helped Mr Edgar keep our school clean.

Mr Edgar took us to the worm farm and it stunk!
We know those worms are doing a good job.
We need to continue to take pride in our school and keep it clean and tidy.

5 Year Nett and Numpa.

After a month at school, students are tested on their knowledge of alphabet letters, knowledge about texts, word recognition, how many words they can write and are given a simple dictation.

In maths the strategies are checked to see what the student uses to solve simple number problems, how far they can count forwards and backwards and numeral recognition.

These results give the teacher a good idea what the student’s strengths are and what they need to work on. These are standardised tests.

Initial Report.
After their first term at school each student receives an initial report based on class work and any testing that they have done.
The report covers Literacy, Number and Essential Skills.
