Fraser Murray's 2nd Book
Full of information about the Clevedon /Wairoa South area - this edition is a collection of 12 years of Yesteryears stories, and is being released as Clevedon School celebrates 150 years of schooling.
The first article appeared in 1996, sparked by the unusual event of a school of dolphins appearing in the Wairoa River. Fraser Murray's story appeared in the
Roundup,
Clevedon's community news sheet, produced entirely by volunteers and delivered free to residents.
It was to be the first of many stories written by "The Cobbler" and has become the literary component of the
Roundup,
the page that many people turn to first when their copy arrives in the letterbox. For years Fraser Murray has disguised this treasure trove of historical information beneath a veneer of easily read yarns, enhanced by perceptive comment and a wry sense of humour. There are stories about fishing, roads, war, schools, shopping . . . you name it, it's there.
The secret is out!
Yesteryears
- lively, readable local history at its best!!
Book 1 - The Murray Memoirs - is available from the Clevedon Historical Society -
at McNicol Homestead for $20.00
